Dr. Keith Ellard, B.Sc., D.C.

Chiropractor

Living life to the fullest has always been the goal for Dr. Ellard.

Never one to shy away from change or a challenge, his path has taken him from rock band member, to pre-med, to chiropractic to the first chiropractor in Canada to be certified in the Performance for Life Method

But let's go back to the rock band first. From the late eighties to the mid-nineties Dr. Ellard was a member of Soul Tattoo, a popular rock band that toured across Canada, and opened for acts ranging from Jeff Healey to Pantera and I Mother Earth. Soul Tattoo released three albums that received world wide critical acclaim and several of their videos were featured on Much Music.

So how does a guy get from rock star to chiropractor? Migraines... bad ones. From the age of seven to twenty-two. And how does he get from pre-med into chiropractic? Well those migraines went from occasional to daily and the debilitating pain that could not be addressed by anyone was indeed addressed by a chiropractor. The instant Dr. Ellard was adjusted the migraine went away and stayed away. It did not take long for change and the challenge of becoming a chiropractor to begin to shape the next part of his journey.

"Helping people feel their best so that they can take on all life has to offer provides me with as great a rush as performing on stage in a large arena used to."

Dr. Ellard's gratitude for finding chiropractic and for observing the incredible changes in his patients fuels his quest for growth. Dr. Ellard's practice served the Glebe community for eight years before he joined Westboro's premiere Back in Balance team.

"I am excited for my patients to experience a centre that supports their health and well-being through relaxation, nutrition, massage and chiropractic."

Dr. Ellard has always appreciated the need to stay in peak shape yet knows how easy it is to let it slip away when the demands of daily living become overwhelming. As a weekend warrior and dad of young twin boys and a daughter, during his own workouts he became aware of how the body tries to compensate for and work around both chronic and acute injuries. In seeking ways to train that meshed with his knowledge of the body and nervous system, he began to follow the work of a colleague who was researching and developing an assessment protocol that once again would challenge and change the course of things to come for Dr. Ellard.

The revolutionary Performance for Life Method is changing the face of how professional and world class athletes are performing, and Dr. Ellard is now the first Canadian to be certified in the PFL method. He brings this amazing tool to his patients and community as well as consults and teaches other doctors and therapists worldwide.

"The Performance for Life Method is producing absolutely stunning changes in even the most challenging cases that previously I would not have expected. To say that it is revolutionary is an understatement."

"At the age of five I was hit by a car and suffered brain trauma that left me with only 20% sensation of the entire right side of my body. Within ten minutes of a PFL assessment and adjustment, 100% sensation returned to my body for the first time in seventeen years. It felt as if a tap had been turned on and I could feel life flow back into the right side of my body. I feel completely revitalized." D.Teasdale

The Performance for Life's motto is "Life is an Athletic Event" and it sums up the enthusiasm Dr. Ellard has to live his life to the fullest and why he shares that enthusiasm with his family, colleagues, friends and patients daily.
